In 2005, Vivienne Westwood released the Propaganda Collection in response to the London bombings. She wanted to make the public think critically about the government's anti-terrorism campaign and reveal how the legislation was just a publicity stunt for them and would infringe on personal rights of the people. One of the dresses in particular was meant to raise awareness about the war in Iraq, and to think of the innocent people being targeted there. The collection featured multiple garments, including dresses which had letters that spelled out "propaganda" in bold on them. This era of her fashion was more politically activist in nature than ever before, with Westwood showing off her ideology on the runway more frequently than ever before. Before, it was just her fashion looks that were mostly provocative, now it was also the bold messaging which was clearly understood from the fashion as well.
