In 2010, Vivienne Westwood began making products for their brand in Kenyan villages. Westwood understood that the clothing and jewelry she makes can have a dramatic positive impact on people's lives by providing them a job, which she thought was more valuable than charity. Giving people living in rural Kenya a job, in her opinion, gave them autonomy and independence over their lives while charity just kept them dependent. She also noted that climate change was the biggest issue she was passionate about. Creating these jobs and making her fashion sustainable was a great combination to aid in making the world a slightly better place. Westwood was so passionate about leaving behind the world a better place than she had found it. This move of production was something no one asked of her, but she did it anyways just because she truly wanted to make a difference in lives.

Here is a link to the official site which sells the "Made In Kenya" label items.

A video detailing Westwood's passion for the Made In Kenya initiative.
